Greetings in the Lord,

The Chicago District Evangelistic Association invites you to pray for the soft launches of two new churches. Impact Christian Church in Merrillville, IN will have its soft launch on March 18th, and Crossroads Christian Church in Joliet, IL will have its soft launch on March 25th.

The "soft launch" is a term being used to describe the birth of a new church, yet in anticipation of a 'hard launch' in the fall. The advantages of having a 'soft launch' are numerous. A soft launch allows the new church to attain a core group of workers to host outreach events, as opposed to being up to a few people. As well, a soft launch is an easy way for unchurched people to find the church attractive as they begin interacting with those who are already Christian. The soft launch will best be promoted by word of mouth, instead of bigger outreach through mass marketing. The soft launch allows the core group to begin meeting for worship, discipleship, building community, purpose, etc. We have seen the value in this as the greatest task is to take a group of strangers and move them into a body of believers.

The CDEA asks for your prayers as Friday, March 9th, the countdown begins for the soft launch of two new churches. Please check your email for specific daily prayer requests. Also, listed below you will find the specific prayer requests for each day:

Day 10
(Sun, March 18, 2007)

Praise God. Impact Christian Church was born today. Attendance was 106, with approximatley 40 of that number as well wishers. There were about 15 children present. After the soft launch service, all were invited to stay for lunch, and many did. Roland Nightengale and the worship team began the worship service at 11:09 and people were still arriving at 11:30. Praise God that Impact Christian Church will come into existence today. Pray for Steve Szoke as he preaches, leads, witnesses, and shares the love of Christ. Pray for the worship team, the musicians, the message, the children's ministry, the greeters, those involved with hospitality, etc. Pray for God's Spirit to move mightily and use Impact Christian Church as an effective tool to win hundreds and even thousands to Christs. Please pray today (Day 9) for Impact Christian Church. Please pray today for the funding needs that are still unmet. Ask God to raise up churches and individuals to meet the current and ongoing financial needs. Thank you for praying for Impact Christian Church. Please pray for the funding needs of Impact Christian Church. Typically in a new church, per capita giving is only $5 - $7. Pray for the current and future funding needs. Pray that God would raise up donors from among His people to underwrite significant costs such as the monthly lease, utilities, and salaries. Please pray today for the lost and the searching in the Merrillville area. Pray that they will be drawn to Impact Christian Church and find the love of Christ. Research shows that Merrillville is 44% churched, and with a population in excess of 32k, the harvest is huge. Add to this number the unchurched in nearby communities, and the harvest is even larger! Pray that God will raise up Impact Christian Church to be a place where hundreds will find new life in Jesus Christ.

Day 6

Please pray today for the children's ministry of Impact Christian Church. Please pray for all the final touches that need to be added to the children's area; pray for the adults who will be leading in the children's area; pray for the children that will attend; pray that the children of unchurched people will have an opportunity to learn about Jesus because of the commitment and desire of Impact Christian Church to make children's ministry a priority. Day 5
(Tues, March 13, 2007)

Impact Christian Church will hold its first 'soft launch' service this Sunday, March 18th. Please pray today for the core group. The core group is composed of people with a variety of churched and unchurched backgrounds. About half of the core group could be considered as 'unchurched.' Pray for God's love to unite them as a group of worshipers, and for them to become passionate about planting a church and reaching people for Jesus. (fyi-many of the unchurched in the core group have openly stated over and again how excited they are to have a place to worship where they feel welcome and encouraged).

Day 4
(Mon, March 12, 2007)

Impact Christian Church in Merrillville, IN has leased a 3600 square foot area for worship and 1600 square feet area for children's ministry. Please pray for the final preparations that need to be done to make the facility ready by Sunday. Pray for safety of those who work, pray for funding for supplies that yet need to be obtained, pray for the core group a they turn a warehouse/business complex into a house for worship.

In just one week, Impact Christian Church in Merrillville, IN will be born as a new church. As you worship today, please give thanks and worship to God for the partner churches and individuals He has raised up to assist in the birth of Impact. Pray for the mother church, Town and Country Christian Church in Crown Point, IN. Give thanks to God that He has called us into partnership with Him in this task of evangelism.
