Prayer
Requests: (March 2007)
Dear CDEA Prayer and Fasting Partners,
I was reminded of the value of prayer the other night while working with the
band at the bar in Romeoville. During the intermission (between music sets),
the bartender asked if we would pray for her brother and nephew. I was standing
across the table from a friend who is not a believer yet. I asked if he would
like to join hands with us while I prayed for her family. The bartender thanked
us for our prayer and that’s when my friend said, “Prayer does work,
doesn’t it?” I assured him that God hears every word we say and is
always at work. Even those outside realize that something happens when prayer
is practiced. I recognize this is something that each of you know. I want to
thank you for practicing prayer focused toward new church planting in Chicagoland.
I know God is at work and believe we will see more positive answers as we step
forward by faith into the future.
I want to keep things simple this month, as we have two churches preparing to
have “soft” launches in March.
March 18: Impact Christian Church begins.
I ask you to pray for this new work that is starting in Merrillville, IN. Steve
Szoke is the pastor and he has around 35 40 people involved in his core
group. I want you to pray for several things: for final zoning approval from
the city of Merrillville, for the finishing touches to be placed on their facility,
for the core group to become even more active in inviting friends and family
members to this new church, for the outreach endeavors that Impact will begin.
I know that Steve would appreciate all the prayers for this work.
March 25: Crossroads Christian Church begins.
This new work is being led by Matt Summers and will be starting in Joliet, IL.
I attended a meeting the other day where Matt shared his vision of this church
becoming a church planting church that would reach throughout the Joliet area,
starting new works to further impact the thousands of unchurched in that region.
His core team numbers in the 70’s and I ask that you pray for their renovation
projects, for the outreach leading up to the “soft” launch, for the
team of students who will be coming to help with the launch from a campus ministry
in Missouri, for responsiveness from the community.
Please continue to pray for the search for the right minister for Rochelle (we
still want to start this work in the fall). I would like you to pray for the
staff of CDEA: myself, Bob Sloniger, Bob Szoke, Earl Ferguson and Georgia Kurko.
I thank you for the ministry of prayer you have under-taken for CDEA. You are
making the difference. Please continue to battle in prayer for us, the task ahead
is imposing, but our God is bigger!!
Love in Christ, Lance
